Overview

Warwickshire County Council is recruiting a permanent, part‑time Senior Family Support Worker/Parent Trainer to deliver a broad range of parenting interventions and professional training. The Family and Relationship Support Team coordinates, develops and delivers programmes across the county, working with Children and Families, the wider network and local partners to support families whether in venues or via a virtual offer. The role acts as a locality link for a District/Borough, liaising with partners, analysing locality data and developing the offer in response to needs. Best Start in Life focuses on evidence‑based interventions and the home learning environment to increase the number of children achieving a good level of development.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a broad range of parenting interventions and parent training
  • Coordinate, develop and deliver programmes across the county in collaboration with colleagues from the Children and Families service and the wider network
  • Work across venues and a virtual delivery model, including delivery during daytimes, evenings and weekends
  • Act as a locality link for a District/Borough: liaise with partners, analyse locality data and adapt the offer accordingly
  • Contribute to the delivery of the Family and Relationship Offer and ensure alignment with the Warwickshire Parenting Approach
  • Provide information and parenting interventions to a broad audience including parents/carers, colleagues in Children and Families, voluntary and community sector partners, and education/early years settings
  • Utilise ICT and Teams effectively; maintain clear written and verbal communication
  • Deliver parenting workshops (2 hours) and longer relational programmes as part of a stepped approach

Essential Experience and Qualifications

  • A relevant child and family qualification with a minimum of NVQ Level 4 or equivalent, and substantial experience as a Family Support Worker
  • Proven track record of CPD in relevant parenting programmes aligned with the Warwickshire Parenting Approach (e.g., Solihull Approach, Train the Trainer, Centre for Emotional Health programmes); additional training provided
  • Minimum 3 years of continuous Family Support Work with delivery of specialist interventions, partnership work, coaching, mentoring or supervisory duties
  • Full, clean driving licence with appropriate business use insurance and access to a suitable vehicle; ability to travel across the county
  • Flexibility to work across varying hours as required
  • Understanding of family dynamics and child development, with evidence in case examples
  • Ability to cope with significant emotional demands when working with vulnerable children and families
