Disrepairs Officer

Are you passionate about delivering excellent housing services and ensuring residents live in safe, well-maintained homes?

We're looking for a proactive and organised Disrepairs Officer to join our Assets and Compliance team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in managing housing disrepair cases across our council housing stock, helping to protect tenants, reduce risk, and ensure the Council meets its legal and regulatory obligations.

There are 2 roles available - a Permanent role and a 12 months Fixed Term role. Please state clearly on your application form which role you are applying for.

You will manage a varied caseload from initial notification through to resolution. Working closely with surveyors, contractors, legal services, and residents, you will coordinate inspections, oversee remedial works, monitor progress, and ensure cases are resolved efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Managing housing disrepair claims and monitor case progression.
  • Coordinating inspections and remedial works.
  • Liaising with residents, contractors, surveyors and legal representatives.
  • Preparing case files, reports and supporting evidence.
  • Monitoring contractor performance and quality of works.
  • Supporting service improvement initiatives and performance reporting
  • Helping minimise legal and financial risk to the Council through effective case management.

Requirements

  • Experience in housing repairs, disrepair management, property maintenance, or a related environment.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders, including contractors, surveyors and legal teams.
  • Strong organisational and case management skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Knowledge of housing disrepair legislation and landlord responsibilities.
  • The ability to manage sensitive and complex cases professionally.
  • A relevant Level 4 qualification in housing, construction or a related discipline, or a willingness to work towards one.
  • A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel as required.
