Warwickshire County Council is a Family Help Team working with a range of families including those in need of Family Help Assessment, Targeted Early Support, Children in Need, those who are on the Edge of Care or Child Protection and Court, and children in care until they have a plan of permanency outside of their parents' care or with a plan of reunification home. Our Family Help Team is multi-agency with Family Support Workers, Family Practitioners, Social Workers, Systemic Consultants, PCSO's, and soon NHS Nurse - all working together to meet the holistic needs of our families to reduce risk and keep families together.

We work with families under the principles of Restorative Practice to identify plans which meet each individual family's needs. About the Role: Bedworth and Nuneaton Family Help Team are recruiting for the role of Consultant Social Worker within the Duty & Assessment Team. You will need to have a minimum of 4 years post qualification and have experience of supervising students or mentoring colleagues.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting less experienced social workers and family support workers by providing consultation, oversight, supervision, and mentoring.
  • Assisting the Team Manager to make safe evidence-based decisions relating to improving outcomes for children and families through effective use of supervision.
  • Assisting the Team Manager with work allocation, professional staff supervision, workload management, prioritisation, and staff performance appraisals.
  • Deputising for the Team Manager, as required.
  • Co-working on complex cases and undertaking joint assessments under the direction of the Team Manager.
  • Attending a range of meetings on behalf of the Team Manager.

Key Requirements:

  • Professional Social Work qualification (MA/BA/BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work or Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (CQSW)).
  • In-depth experience in children's social work and experience of complex cases.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to make well-informed decisions.
  • Ability to record and produce concise, effective, and accurate reports.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to build relationships and engage with children and families.

Consultant Social Workers: Up to £53,769 per annum (Includes a £3,500 pro-rated annual market supplement subject to pension, tax, and NI deductions).
