We are currently recruiting for a

Choice Based Lettings Visiting Officer to join our Housing Solutions Team. This is a permanent, full-time position (37 hours per week) .

As a Choice Based Lettings Visiting Officer, you will play a key role in helping residents access suitable housing.

You will carry out home visits to assess and verify housing need, support the management of the housing register, and assist in the fair allocation of homes in line with the Council's Allocations Policy.

Working closely with applicants, colleagues, landlords and partner agencies, you will deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service and provide advice and support to those seeking housing assistance.

We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused individual with excellent interpersonal skills, experience of conducting home visits, and a passion for helping people access suitable housing.

You will be confident working independently, making informed decisions, and building positive relationships with customers, colleagues, landlords, and partner organisations.

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering an effective, efficient and sensitive Choice Based Lettings service, helping residents access suitable housing and supporting them through the allocations process.

You will undertake home visits to verify applicants' housing circumstances, assess housing and support needs, and determine eligibility for the housing register in accordance with the Council's Allocations Policy.

This is a busy and rewarding role within our Housing Solutions Team, working with some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.

To be successful in this role, you will have

  • Experience working in a housing, customer service or public sector environment.
  • Experience carrying out home visits and assessing customer needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
  • The ability to manage a varied workload, prioritise tasks and make informed decisions.
  • Strong organisational, investigative and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable customers and handling sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
  • An NVQ Level 2 qualification, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
