This is an exciting opportunity to join East Staffordshire Borough Council in a distinctive and trusted role supporting the Mayor’s Office. Based at Burton Town Hall in Burton upon Trent, this position sits at the heart of the borough’s civic life, helping to uphold important traditions while representing a high-performing Council that serves a vibrant mix of town and country communities.
As Mayor’s Chauffeur and Attendant, you will play a key part in ensuring the Mayor and Deputy Mayor are supported to the highest standard at official and civic engagements. This is a casual position, with work offered on an as-and-when basis to meet the needs of the Mayor’s schedule. You will provide professional chauffeur and attendant services, ensure the correct regalia is prepared for each occasion, and undertake ceremonial duties including Mace bearing at civic parades, flag-raising events, civic funerals and Full Council meetings. This is a role for someone who takes pride in presentation, professionalism and public service, and who can work flexibly during the day, evenings and weekends in line with the Mayor’s schedule.
What You’ll Bring:
- A full clean driving licence
- Excellent knowledge of traffic regulations and East Staffordshire’s road network
- Strong judgement, discretion and awareness of safety
- The ability to remain calm, dependable and professional in formal, high-profile settings
- Advanced driving skills and a first aid certificate are desirable

We are looking for a courteous, confident and reliable individual with a calm, professional manner and the personal presence to support civic events with dignity and care. You will need to be comfortable carrying the Mace in ceremonial processions when required and able to build confidence with senior civic figures, colleagues and the public alike.
