Malvern Hills and Wychavon District Councils are seeking a Senior Building Control Surveyor for a permanent position, 37 hours per week, with a salary of £45,091 – £49,282 per annum (pay award pending) plus a £4,000 market forces supplement. The South Worcester Building Control Partnership combines the Building Control services of Malvern Hills District Council, Worcester City Council, and Wychavon District Council to provide a modern, flexible, and customer-focused local authority Building Control Service.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain your own caseload of applications for Building Regulations approval, including complex and challenging projects.
- Assist supervising Class 1 RBI’s and support the Head of Building Control.
- Manage relationships between the Council and developers on various development proposals.
- Liaise with members of the public or their agents, working away from the office and dealing confidently with customers.
The role requires a self-motivated candidate with a strong track record in team leadership, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and enthusiasm for developing the service further.
About You:
- Registered at a minimum of Class 2a, b & d with the regulator.
- Desirable to be fully qualified with RICS, CABE or equivalent.
- Strong team leadership track record.
- Holding a driving licence and ability to use a car for business or fully mobile with access to transport.
- Ability to undertake site visits in both urban and rural parts of South Worcestershire, which may involve climbing ladders or operating in confined spaces.
- Committed to customer care.
- Full range of experience within the construction industry.
- Well organised and able to handle a variety of tasks at any time.
- Positive response to change and drive new and improved ways of working.
