Maple Hayes Hall School is a special school for up to 120 boys and girls with specific learning difficulties (dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia) from KS2 to KS4, following an appropriately modified national curriculum. We are seeking an outstanding Teacher of Mathematics who can inspire students and promote excellence in their learning. The post suits an enthusiastic and motivated classroom practitioner who can enthuse the learning of children with Specific Learning Difficulties. The role requires flexibility to incorporate the school’s literacy programme into the subject’s work for which the school will provide appropriate training. Class sizes generally range from 10 to 12 pupils. Candidates should have high expectations of their students and themselves, with a determined approach to ensuring every child can succeed irrespective of circumstance. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and interactive Mathematics lessons that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of students.
  • Foster a creative and innovative learning environment that encourages experimentation, problem‑solving, and critical thinking.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to enhance student understanding and achievement.
  • Assess student progress effectively through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievement, in line with school policies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement cross‑curricular projects and initiatives.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, parent‑teacher conferences, and school events as required.

Additional Whole School Responsibilities

There may be a requirement to take on responsibility for a form group and the school’s literacy programme is delivered in the first lesson of each weekday. Teachers are required to attend one timetabled driver literacy lesson with the class during the week, keep appropriate records of pupil progress and work done, and contribute to reports for annual reviews of individual pupils’ EHC Plans.

Pay and Working Conditions

The rates of pay are above the Main Scale with a significant discretionary pay award, part of which reflects involvement in extracurricular activities and attendance.
