Warwickshire County Council – Southam Library – Library Customer Services Assistant positions you as the first point of contact for all users, ensuring a positive experience for customers of all ages.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for all users, ensuring a positive experience for customers of all ages.
  • Deliver outreach and promotional work, including children's activities such as singing and storytelling.
  • Share enthusiasm and knowledge of books and reading with patrons.
  • Assist customers using office packages, the internet and social media, providing hands‑on advice and answering enquiries.
  • Carry out administrative duties related to library services.

Working Pattern

Week 1: Tuesday 9.30‑5.30, Thursday 9.30‑5.30, Saturday 9.00‑12.30. Week 2: Tuesday 9.30‑5.30, Thursday 9.30‑5.30. Sundays as required. Enhanced rates of pay for Sunday work, plus time off in lieu.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Fluency duty: must be able to speak and provide advice in accurate spoken English to the public.
  • Successful applicants will be subject to pre‑engagement checks, including a relevant Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
