Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council is looking to appoint a capable and reliable Level 3 Teaching Assistant to work within Key Stage 1 at Hurst Green Primary School. This is a fixed-term position for one year, starting in September 2026, with 29.5 hours per week over 39 weeks.

Role Overview

This role requires someone who can support learning with precision, particularly in phonics and early reading, and who understands the importance of consistent classroom routines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting teaching and learning across Key Stage 1.
  • Delivering targeted interventions in phonics, early reading, and mathematics.
  • Supporting pupils to apply taught knowledge independently.
  • Contributing to assessment and feedback.
  • Maintaining a calm and purposeful classroom environment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Holds a relevant Level 3 qualification.
  • Has experience working within Key Stage 1.
  • Has a secure understanding of phonics and early reading.
  • Can follow structured approaches to teaching and intervention.
  • Is organised, reliable, and able to build strong relationships with pupils.

Additional Requirements

This role includes supporting pupils with medical needs. The successful candidate will be required to undertake training (for example, diabetic care) and be willing to administer medication following appropriate training and school procedures.
