Salary and Hours Grade A – £24,796 – £27,254 per annum. Consultation grade – subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review. Working 36.5 hours per week. Fixed‑term contract up to 23 months.
Birmingham City Council is seeking a Legal Clerk for its newly formed Housing Disrepair Legal Team. The role involves working within a large team of paralegals and lawyers, handling a high volume of essential housing litigation cases and supporting the overall aim of improving citizen wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate, comprehensive and up‑to‑date legal documentation and court bundles under direction and within tight deadlines.
- Open new legal case files in the case management system, set up initial documentation and complete acknowledgments.
- Close files on the case management system, prepare paper files for off‑site storage and update team spreadsheets with case outcomes.
- Process and respond to routine communication (post, telephone or email), taking messages, copying, scanning and distributing information as necessary.
- Operate legal procedures including authentication and sealing of documents, produce case‑management reports and assist with routine processes such as processing invoices.
