In this role, you will play a key part in delivering outstanding music education to a diverse range of full-time learners. You’ll provide an exceptional student experience that inspires creativity and supports learners in achieving their full potential.

Alongside teaching, you will take on a range of administrative and developmental responsibilities designed to enhance the quality of our provision, improve achievement outcomes, and continuously enrich the learner experience.

This role is an urgent requirement, we therefore may close the advert early if we receive sufficient applicants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding music provision to a wide range of full-time learners through an exceptional student experience leading to positive achievement outcomes.
  • We welcome applicants from a variety of specialist music backgrounds, but particularly encourage those with music production, live sound and audio/visual editing experience and qualifications.
  • Deliver and teach music/music production Btec programmes to agreed success targets. Currently at level 2 and 3.
  • Deliver and teach creative media subjects if required, developing learners’ skills to reflect the modern and diverse creative industry, with a focus on audio/visual recording and editing skills.
  • Regularly review and monitor the attendance and progress of learners and follow up as required to ensure learners achieve their targets.
  • Carry out, collate and feedback initial and/or diagnostic assessments to identify students’ ILP and support as required, providing differentiated learning strategies to enable students to achieve their primary learning goal.
  • Provide assignment and assessment material appropriate to each specific programme.
  • Evaluate and assess (formative and summative) the work of learners in relation to the curriculum criteria and provide timely constructive and helpful learner feedback.
  • Maintain quality systems related to the teaching of music/creative subjects including designing work schemes, lesson plans, assessment plans and assessment activities.
  • Update and maintain electronic documentation to support teaching and learning, assessment and tracking of learner progress.
  • Attend curriculum meetings and contribute to the continual quality improvement mechanisms (e.g. maintenance of course files, timely updating of ILPs on ProMonitor).
  • Develop quality resources (including e-resources) which support the development of learners’ specialist skills.

Qualifications & Training

  • Minimum 2:1 degree or equivalent (e.g. HND) in a Music related subject.
  • Teaching qualification. Applications from newly qualified or experienced unqualified teachers will be considered
  • Additional qualifications and/or higher degrees in the relevant area(s) are desirable but not essential
  • Level 2 qualification (GCSE A* – C, or equivalent) in maths and English

Skills & Expertise

  • Successful experience of teaching in a relevant area. For Newly Qualified or less experienced teachers, ability and the drive to become an excellent teacher are essential attributes
  • Experience of using Logic Pro music production software
  • Experience of using industry standard digital and analogue recording studio and live sound equipment
  • Confident, competent, and adaptable musician (ideally multi-instrumentalist) with demonstratable skills on either guitar, piano, drums, and/or as a vocalist.
  • A proven track record of supporting learners as individuals and developing independent learning
  • Up to date knowledge of and ability to apply a range of assessment practices
  • An interest in and the ability to relate well to young adult learners.
