Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, Sandwell Museums is looking for a motivated Learning Officer to join our busy team which looks after 6 heritage buildings and delivers a busy programme of museum activities. The Learning Officer will be the lead for our formal learning programme to schools and other educational groups. The role will involve supporting the development and delivery of existing activities and creating new inspiring learning programmes as well as supervising a team of leaders who deliver sessions to schools.
Essential requirements:
- Nurture partnerships and develop ongoing relationships, projects and programmes with local schools and home educated groups to support their creative learning needs as well as looking for funding opportunities to deliver activities.
- Work closely with the Museum Services Manager and Arts and Projects Officer to deliver formal learning activities and family learning activities and displays.
- You will have worked in a learning environment and delivered hands on activities, have experience of supervising staff or volunteers and be able to think on their feet to ensure a high-quality service and good standards of customer services are maintained.
- You will be educated to Degree level in related subject or equivalent level or teaching or teaching assistant qualification.
- You must hold Grade C or above in GCSE maths and English or equivalent.
Hours: 21 hours per week. The role requires the post holder to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
