Level 3 Teaching Assistant Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, Salary: Grade 5 (£20,020 to £21,820 actual salary)

Hours: 32.5 hours per week, term time only (39 weeks)

Qualifications and Experience

  • Holds an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Supporting Teaching and Learning
  • Has experience supporting pupils within the KS1/EYF Curriculum, including literacy and numeracy
  • Is confident working with whole classes, small groups, and individual pupils
  • Has experience working with children with additional needs, including those presenting challenging behaviours
  • Has First Aid training (or is willing to undertake training)
  • Demonstrates strong literacy, numeracy, and IT skills, alongside effective communication skills
  • Has the ability to build positive relationships to support all children in meeting their goals and reaching their full potential
  • Is committed to inclusion, safeguarding, and the overall well-being of all pupils
  • Is resilient and passionate about supporting the social, emotional, and mental well-being of young people
  • Is dedicated, creative, reflective, enthusiastic, and highly motivated
  • Works effectively as part of a team and actively supports teaching staff to raise standards
  • Enjoys working with children and strives for excellence and engagement in learning
  • Provides a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, organisational, communication, and time-management skills
  • Is able to work with autonomy and take on responsibility where required
  • Adheres to and supports whole-school policies, practices, and ethos
  • Is willing to undertake ongoing professional development and training

Responsibilities

  • Providing support to pupils to achieve learning goals, e.g. leading phonics sessions
  • Providing support to pupils with additional needs/SEND
  • Assisting the teacher with the planning of learning activities
  • Assisting in maintaining classroom discipline through the implementation of the school’s behaviour management strategies
  • Assisting with the day-to-day routines of a classroom, including the preparation of resources
  • Assisting the teacher in monitoring pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately recording achievement/progress as directed
