About The Team

The Training and Development Team at Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service (WFRS) plays a vital role in ensuring operational staff are fully equipped with the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to keep our communities safe. The team delivers high-quality training across a range of specialist areas, working collaboratively with internal colleagues and external partners to maintain excellent standards and realistic training environments.

About The Role

As an Operational Training Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of operational training across WFRS. This is a varied and hands-on role where you’ll provide practical, logistical and administrative support to ensure training activities run efficiently and effectively.

You will help prepare and maintain training facilities, equipment and resources, supporting safe and realistic training delivery, including working with specialist facilities such as the hot fire simulator. The role also involves assisting with the creation of training materials, maintaining accurate records, coordinating equipment maintenance and supporting joint training exercises with partner agencies. This role is based at our Training and Development Centres, with travel across different locations and the ability to work evenings and weekends where required to support service needs. Our Training and Development Centres are located in Kingsbury, Rugby and Stratford upon Avon.

Key Requirements

  • We are looking for someone who is organised, adaptable and able to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong literacy, numeracy and basic IT skills.
  • Good knowledge of fire service equipment, appliances and procedures.
  • Experience of maintaining records and working with databases.
  • A full driving licence, including LGV Category C and willingness to travel.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required.
  • Manual handling training (or willingness to obtain).
