St Nicholas C of E Primary School, Kenilworth is seeking to appoint a skilled, enthusiastic and caring Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Teaching Assistant who will support our youngest learners to thrive academically, socially and emotionally. The role is permanent, working 30 hours 50 minutes per week, Monday to Friday 8.40am – 3.20pm (Term time plus 1 week). Starting September 2026. Salary Scale: Band F (7–11) – Pro-rata.

The Role

We are looking for an EYFS Teaching Assistant to work as part of our dedicated Early Years team, supporting teaching and learning within our Reception provision. The successful candidate will help create a stimulating, nurturing and inclusive environment where children feel safe, valued and inspired to learn. The role will involve:

  • Supporting children through play‑based learning
  • Leading small group activities
  • Contributing to observations and assessments
  • Helping children develop socially, emotionally and academically during this important stage of their education

This role requires flexibility, initiative and the ability to build trusting, respectful relationships with children, families and colleagues—reflecting our commitment to show love and kindness in all we do.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Hold a recognised and relevant NVQ Level 2 qualification (NVQ Level 3 desirable)
  • Have GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths at grades A–C
  • Have experience of working with young children, preferably within an EYFS setting
  • Have a good understanding of the EYFS Framework and child development
  • Can support children's learning through purposeful play and high‑quality interactions
  • Have strong communication and listening skills
  • Understand safeguarding and school policies
  • Use ICT effectively to support learning and record observations
  • Are proactive, reflective and able to use initiative
  • Work effectively as part of a team and contribute positively to school life
  • Are committed to our vision and to helping every child flourish
