Fixed Term Contract – 12 months

About The Role

You’ll work with clients who wish to apply to join the Council’s Housing Waiting List and provide support services across the Housing Advice and Benefits Team. You’ll interview clients, assess housing needs, and provide tailored advice on eligibility for social and affordable housing under the Council’s Housing Allocation Policy. Additionally, you’ll carry out assessments of applications and investigations, arrange temporary accommodation when requested, and assist clients in moving within temporary accommodation through removal, storage assistance and other duties.

About You

You have a working knowledge of legislation used for decision making regarding applications to join the Housing Waiting List, including Part VI of the Housing Act 1996. You demonstrate excellent listening and communication skills, can explain complex issues, work effectively under pressure, prioritise, and collaborate with partners. You are able to influence, problem solve, overcome barriers, and apply solution‑focused approaches. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
