Stoke-on-Trent City Council is seeking a Family Time Officer to supervise and support supervised family time sessions, ensuring safety and a child‑focused environment. Hours: 7.5 hours on Saturday.

Key Responsibilities:- Supervise and support family time sessions to a high standard, ensuring they are safe and child‑focused.
- Observe interactions, provide support and parenting interventions where required to promote a positive family time experience.
- Record detailed observations in the system in a timely and accurate manner.
- Disseminate relevant information to the child’s social worker promptly and prepare detailed court reports to evidence parenting support and interventions during family time, informing social work interventions and the children’s plans.
- Maintain a flexible and adaptable approach to meet court‑directed requirements and deliver an efficient and effective service.
- Provide written evidence and attend court proceedings as required to present observation records.
- Liaise with partners and colleagues to support parents and carers holistically, contributing to multi‑agency meetings and reviews for children when necessary.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully with members of the public and staff.
- Experience in building restorative relationships with children and families, and direct work with children, families and carers.
- Knowledge of assessment and the legal framework supporting children in care, and the child‑care planning process.
- Understanding of child development and the impact of trauma on children’s development and behaviours.
- Familiarity with relevant legislative provisions and statutory guidance, including GDPR and child protection.
- Aware of the needs of vulnerable children and their families.
