Overview

Work as part of the Families First Programme to deliver evidence‑based interventions for vulnerable children, young people and families across homes, schools, colleges and community settings.

Provide whole‑family support, collaborate with social workers and partner agencies, and lead Family Help Assessments and review meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver 1:1 relationship‑based practice using evidence‑based approaches to assess needs and build resilience.
  • Manage a complex caseload, complete Family Help Assessments (including Section 17) and develop SMART plans.
  • Lead Family Help review meetings at Targeted Early Help or Child in Need level.
  • Coordinate multi‑agency support, make referrals and advocate for children and families.
  • Provide parenting programmes, engage family networks, and support children with additional needs to access education, activities and services.
  • Maintain accurate, timely records, produce written and verbal reports, and contribute to multi‑agency meetings.
  • Participate in supervision, training and court processes where required.

Qualifications

  • Level 4 qualification (or above) in health, education, child development, youth work or social care.
  • Experience working with children, young people and families, including lone working.
  • Experience managing complex caseloads and coordinating multi‑agency support.
  • Proficiency in evidence‑based therapeutic approaches such as motivational interviewing and solution‑focused practice; experience with parenting programmes (e. g.

Triple P, Solihull) is desirable.

  • Strong communication, organisational and IT skills; ability to prioritise workloads independently and collaboratively.
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and risk assessment.
  • Ability to challenge partners constructively and ensure high standards of support.
  • Adaptable, resilient and motivated; flexible working hours and willing to travel across the county.
  • Own transport and availability for evenings and weekends as required.
