Overview Birmingham Children's Trust, Are you passionate about safeguarding children and young people from harms outside the home, do you have strategic mindset capable of coordinating disruption planning in a multi-agency setting? We are seeking an innovative and highly motivated Exploitation and Missing Co-ordinator to join our contextual safeguarding partnership hub. This position is pivotal in spearheading the intelligence-led disruption of perpetrators and the protection of vulnerable young people across Birmingham. The role does not include direct casework with children and families but will require occasional joint visits.

In this influential role, you will be responsible for developing thorough assessment of harm or risk, utilising a contextual safeguarding approach. Your expertise will be crucial in analysing intelligence, identifying emerging trends, and coordinating robust disruption plans that target perpetrators and prevent exploitation. You will play a key role in forging and nurturing strong partnerships between the Empower U Hub, the wider community, and various agencies. By building these connections, you will strengthen our collective response to child exploitation, serious youth violence and missing episodes and enhance the safeguarding landscape citywide.

Your coordination skills will be at the heart of the operation, as you work collaboratively with experienced professionals from social care, police, education, and community agencies. You will be tasked with driving multi-agency efforts, managing information flow, and ensuring that disruption activity is effective, timely, and intelligence-led. This includes raising awareness among social workers, family support workers, youth offending teams, and other stakeholders—enhancing their ability to recognise and respond to risks that originate outside the family environment.

This is a part-time (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday) hybrid role based in Birmingham, so you must reside within a suitable commutable distance around Birmingham and have the correct right-to-work documents to work in the UK. Sadly, we do not support those who require sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Develop thorough assessment of harm or risk, utilising a contextual safeguarding approach.
  • Analyse intelligence, identify emerging trends, and coordinate disruption plans that target perpetrators and prevent exploitation.
  • Forge and nurture strong partnerships between the Empower U Hub, the wider community, and various agencies; strengthen the safeguarding response to child exploitation, serious youth violence, and missing episodes citywide.
  • Coordinate multi-agency efforts, manage information flow, and ensure disruption activity is effective, timely, and intelligence-led.
  • Raise awareness among social workers, family support workers, youth offending teams, and other stakeholders to recognise and respond to risks outside the family environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of issues surrounding child exploitation and missing children, underpinned by a relevant degree or equivalent qualifications.
  • Proven ability to assess vulnerabilities and coordinate safeguarding responses; awareness of the complexities facing young people in Birmingham.
