Shires Multi Academy Trust is seeking to appoint a Finance Business Partner to join the Central Finance Team. The Finance Business Partner plays a key role in delivering high‑quality financial management, reporting, and support across the Trust. Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, the postholder acts as the finance lead for a group of schools, taking ownership of management accounts, budgets, and forecasts, and providing clear financial insight and challenge to support effective decision‑making. The role works closely with headteachers, school leaders, and central teams, acting as a key link between finance and operations, and requires travel across local school sites.

Contract: Full‑time, permanent (37 hours per week all year round).

Start Date: As soon as possible.

Salary: NJC points 34-37: £45,091 ‑ £48,226 (further pay award April 2026).

The role will be primarily based at the Trust Central Offices with a requirement to travel between Trust schools and beyond as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the finance lead for allocated schools, building strong relationships with headteachers and leaders.
  • Provide clear financial insight, advice, and challenge to support decision‑making and outcomes.
  • Produce high‑quality monthly management accounts, forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Lead budgeting and multi‑year financial planning, ensuring plans are realistic and sustainable.
  • Identify financial risks, pressures, and opportunities, and drive practical solutions.
  • Ensure strong financial control, compliance, and understanding across schools.
  • Work collaboratively with central teams to align finance with operational priorities.
  • Support continuous improvement, efficiency, and value for money across the Trust.
