What are we looking for?
We’re looking for motivated and adaptable Employment Advisors to join Walsall Council’s Employment and Skills team. This role will support the delivery of the award-winning Walsall Works programme which helps residents of all ages and backgrounds to overcome barriers and achieve sustainable employment and skills progression.
This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in employability support, who thrives on working with a diverse caseload and is passionate about making a difference across the borough.
About The Job
As an Employment Advisor, you’ll manage a varied caseload of residents, both in and out of work, providing tailored support to help them move forward in their careers. You’ll work with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, from low confidence and skills gaps to complex personal circumstances.
You’ll deliver one-to-one guidance, develop action plans, support job searches and connect clients with training and development opportunities. Working across Walsall, you’ll also build strong relationships with local employers, training providers and community partners to create pathways into meaningful employment.
This role is performance-driven, with clear targets for employment and skills outcomes, and offers the chance to make a real impact in people’s lives.
About You
You’ll bring:

  • Experience supporting people into work or training, ideally in a local authority or community setting
  • A strong understanding of the barriers to employment and how to overcome them
  • Excellent communication, coaching and caseload management skills
  • A Level 4 qualification (or equivalent experience) in CIAG, employability or a related field
  • A flexible, proactive approach and a commitment to inclusive, person-centred support
  • You’ll be confident working independently across the borough and driven to help people achieve lasting change
