Tenant Engagement Officer

Are you passionate about empowering communities and making a real difference to people’s lives?

We’re looking for a Tenant Engagement Officer to join our team and help strengthen relationships between residents and housing services across the borough.

About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in promoting tenant involvement and community engagement.

You’ll work directly with residents, tenants’ groups, and partner organisations to ensure people have a strong voice in shaping housing services and their local communities.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver innovative engagement activities across the borough.
  • Support and develop tenants’ and residents’ groups.
  • Build strong partnerships with council teams and external agencies.
  • Help residents influence decisions around housing services and investment.
  • Organise consultations, events, and training opportunities.
  • Promote inclusion, cohesion, and equal opportunities.
  • Support governance and scrutiny arrangements and ensure residents can effectively challenge and improve services.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with community, tenant, or participation groups.
  • Knowledge or experience within social housing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

A relevant qualification (or willingness to work toward one) in housing, community development, or customer service would be desirable.

  • Additional Requirements
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required (TOIL provided).
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
  • DBS check required.
