Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council invites applications for a Senior Planning Officer to join the Planning Development Management Team. The role involves shaping the future of Dudley during a period of significant growth, including the Midland Metro extension, Dudley Interchange and Health Innovation Dudley.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a broad and varied caseload of major and minor planning applications, pre‑applications and appeals.
- Provide mentoring and support to the planning team.
- Negotiate and communicate with stakeholders, exercising problem‑solving skills.
- Keep up to date with local planning policy and contribute to the emerging Local Plan.
Qualifications & Experience
- RTPI accredited professional or eligible for RTPI chartered membership through post‑qualification experience.
- Experience working within a planning development management environment.
- Full UK driving licence.
Working Hours & Conditions
- 37 hours per week, full‑time permanent contract.
- Hybrid working – primarily from home with required attendance at borough offices.
- 30 days leave (increased by 4 days after 5 years of continuous service).
- Flexible working time with flexi‑time leave accrual.
