The Role
Pastoral Support Officer
Salary: Grade 6 Points 12 - 17 (£15,146.09 - £16,728.73) Pro‐Rata Salary depends on years of service. Salary is term only; holiday pay adjustment will be made.
Hours: 22.5 hours per week (08:00–16:00), Term Time Only (39 weeks). Days to be agreed at interview.
Location: Dormston School, Mill Bank, Dudley, West Midlands, DY3 1SN.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support with the pastoral care of students, helping them overcome barriers to learning inside and outside of the school to achieve their full potential.
- Create and maintain a purposeful, structured, and nurturing environment where students feel safe to learn.
- Lead and model best practice, drive strategies that support students' personal development.
- Contribute to all aspects of pastoral care, welfare, and guidance for our student cohort.
Key Requirements
- Working knowledge of relevant policies and legislation.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience working in a school or with young people.
- Good numeracy, literacy, and ICT skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Right to work in the UK and ability to provide documentation.
- Commitment to safeguarding; subject to Enhanced DBS clearance and medical clearance under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
