Overview
Transport Operations secures all home to school transport provision for students with special educational needs as well as transport to day care services for adults. Weβre looking for a Driver to join our team. Driving a specially adapted large vehicle, youβll be working within a team on a split shift system with a morning shift starting at around 7.00 am then returning for an afternoon shift from about 2.00 pm each weekday. You will be responsible for transporting adults and children to day care, respite placements and schools in Warwickshire which will include helping passengers, some of whom may have physical and learning disabilities, on and off the bus, ensuring their comfort and safety during transportation; maintaining the vehicle records as well ensuring the bus is clean and tidy after each use. Although based at our Warwick depot, you will be expected to support the wider team at the Nuneaton and Rugby depots as required as well as support with Passenger Assistant tasks. A full package of training will be provided to support you in the role should you be successful.
Responsibilities
- Transport adults and children to day care, respite placements and schools in Warwickshire.
- Help passengers on and off the bus and ensure comfort and safety during transportation.
- Maintain vehicle records and ensure the bus is clean and tidy after each use.
- Support the wider team at the Warwick, Nuneaton and Rugby depots as required and assist with Passenger Assistant tasks.
- Be based at the Warwick depot with willingness to travel to other depots as needed and participate in a split shift pattern.
- Complete any required training to perform the role effectively.
Qualifications
- Clean Driving Licence with Category D1.
- Available to work shifts in the early mornings and afternoons.
- Good communication and customer care skills; able to meet and assist people of various ages and disabilities in a courteous and sensitive manner.
- Ability to work on own initiative, be flexible in approach, and support the wider team as necessary.
- Ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
- It would be advantageous to have experience of working in a multi-cultural environment and with young and elderly people who are disabled.
