Exhall Grange Specialist School is a 4-19 maintained school that provides a nurturing environment for children and young people with:

  • Social, Communication and Interaction difficulties including Autism
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
  • Physical difficulties
  • Sensory impairment
  • Complex medical needs

Many of our children and young people are physically or emotionally vulnerable or have life-limiting conditions. Some pupils are highly anxious and require our calm, predictable, and nurturing environment to access school. We are committed to ensuring all our pupils reach their full potential and encourage everyone to “Be Your Best Self,” which encapsulates our core purpose. All pupils follow the National Curriculum at a level appropriate to their ability and needs. We focus on developing the skills our pupils need for independence, employment, and life, alongside our school values: Respect, Resilience, Confidence, Motivation, Aspiration, and Integrity.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic person with relevant experience and a high level of personal drive and energy to join our dedicated, solution-focused team as Pastoral Lead (SEND). The successful candidate will help support a caring and supportive learning environment for our pupils, placing the learner’s welfare at the heart of the school.

We are looking to appoint someone who:

  • Has a passion for working with pupils and understands the impact effective support can have on their lives
  • Can demonstrate resilience and a solution-focused approach
  • Will undertake Designated Safeguarding Lead training to support the Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Has highly developed inter-personal skills to maintain effective working relationships with staff, pupils, and parents/carers
  • Is able to inspire and enthuse pupils, staff, and the wider school community
  • Can work under less direct supervision and independently manage behaviour incidents, plan, and deliver activities to work with families, staff, and external agencies
  • Will work with pupils and families to improve outcomes in relation to behaviour and/or attendance
  • Is a professional with drive, energy, and determination to make lasting change for young people

In return, you will have the opportunity to work in this unique Specialist Provision. You will become a valued member of an encouraging and friendly staff group, and a dedicated Mental Health and Wellbeing Team. We offer a competitive salary ranging from £36,363 - £39,152 full-time equivalent, equating to an actual salary of £33,027 - £35,560 per annum for 37 hours per week, working term time plus 5 training days and an additional 74 hours (41 weeks in total) to be worked across the year. The working day is 08.30 – 16.30 Monday to Wednesday and Friday, and 08.40 – 16.40 on Thursday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
