Our Governing Body (Local Governing Body - LGB) is seeking a committed individual to support the Academy’s vision. As a Governor, you’ll help guide strategic decisions, champion high standards and make a real difference to the lives of our students. About Erasmus Darwin Academy: Erasmus Darwin Academy, Staffordshire.
Role and responsibilities: The LGB operates in the best interest of the students. Its function is to monitor, encourage and challenge the educational performance and management of the Academy and to work with Trustees in governance matters. Governors meet 7 times per year and provide support and constructive challenge to the Senior Leadership Team. Governors may conduct Learning Walks and Linked Visits.
Governing Body composition: 12 members: co-opted governors, parent governors and staff governors. Chair of Governors – Neil Faunch. Vice Chair of Governors – Brendan O’Riley. Staff Governors – Susan Kirkwood and Claire Aldridge. Clerk to the Governing Body – Carly Marshall (Office Manager).
Application process and checks: The successful applicant will be subject to the following checks: Proof of identity, an enhanced DBS disclosure check (and if in regulated activity with children, a barred list check will also be required), a childcare disqualification check (if involved in the management of provision), a Section 128 check, self-declaration checks, and other relevant checks identified in DfE Keeping Children Safe in Education as appropriate (e.g., overseas criminal records check).
