Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, through Solihull Catering Services, offers award-winning school meals made with locally sourced, high-quality ingredients, and is looking for a Catering Assistant to support our team on term time.

Key Details:

  • Salary: £24,413 – £24,796 pro-rata per annum (approx. £10,486.85).
  • Working hours: 18.75 hours per week, Monday – Friday, term time only.
  • Contract type: Fixed-term until July 2026.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with serving healthy, award-winning meals to pupils.
  • Perform basic food preparation and prepare counters and dining room for service.
  • Operate the cashless till system.
  • Maintain hygiene standards within the kitchen and complete cleaning duties.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Level 2 Food Safety qualification (or willingness to complete within first 12 months).
  • Experience delivering excellent customer service and working as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills, enthusiasm and self-motivation.

Additional requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS check with barred list check required.
  • Fluency Duty covered by the Code of Practice on English language requirements for public sector workers.
