Casual Food Preparation Assistant- EE07625

Walsall Council is seeking enthusiastic, adaptable team members to assist in the production and delivery of school meals across the borough. Responsibilities include general kitchen duties including the cleaning of equipment. This is a non-contractual, as-and-when-needed role to cover annual leave and sickness, with opportunities for permanent positions in the future.

Overview

Salary: G3 £13.05 per hour. Hours: flexible pattern between 10.00am and 2.00pm, Monday to Friday during term time. Location: Walsall Council premises, across schools and council buildings.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of school meals.
  • Perform general kitchen duties and cleaning of equipment and work areas.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies and food hygiene standards.
  • Support colleagues to ensure smooth kitchen operations during service times.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Successful candidates will hold or train for the Essential Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Pre-employment health questionnaire required in line with FSA guidance due to health and safety risks involved in kitchen duties.
  • This post is covered by the Government’s English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers; communication in accurate spoken English is required.
  • Completion of the online application should include a detailed supporting information statement describing how your skills, abilities and experience meet the employee specification. A CV is not accepted.
  • DBS check may be a requirement of this post.

  • Non-contractual, hours not guaranteed; work allocated on an as-needed basis to cover leave and sickness.
