We are looking for a creative, flexible, and highly organised careers guidance professional with a Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance and Development or equivalent. Successful candidate requires full NVQ 6 in Careers Information Advice and Guidance.

The Connexions Service is the lead agency in the City of Wolverhampton supporting young people through their transition to adult life and focussing on their progression to education, employment or training. The service is targeted at those most at risk of becoming NEET and those who are NEET and within this group those from key vulnerable groups’ i.e. young offenders, LAC, homeless, teenage parents and young people with SEND.

Working in a range of settings such as schools, the Local Authority setting and, in the community, the Careers Advisor will manage a caseload of young people and will provide careers information, advice and guidance to enable young people to develop career management skills and make informed choices about learning and work, and support them through transition to post school education, employment and training.

The Careers Advisor will help young people evaluate their progress and achievement and will write individual action plans or Career Pathway Plans to track progress and development. They will also contribute to the reviews of young people with Education, Health and Care Plans for those young people with SEND.

We are looking for someone who has experience of working with our most Vulnerable cohorts such as those with SEND. An awareness of the barriers faced by those special educational needs and those young people using augmentative and alternative communication methods would be advantageous.

The role is for 18.5 hours per week, for 12 months, with a salary of £18,181 - £20,388 (Grade 6). The workstyle is field-based, working in communities across the city.
