Solihull’s Education Business Support Team (EBST) are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Business Support Officer to join our friendly team based at Solihull Council House. EBST consists of around 25 staff who provide business support for a range of services for the Education Directorate. All in our team share one purpose: supporting the provision of the best possible education for all children and young people in Solihull.

This role supports Education Partnerships by providing high quality customer-focused administrative support for a variety of internal teams within the council that work with schools and other agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Organising meetings and training sessions
  • Maintaining databases
  • Processing financial transactions
  • Communicating with school staff and governors to assist with queries
  • Taking minutes at meetings attended by senior officers and other professionals
  • Prioritising a varied workload to meet deadlines in a demanding environment

Qualifications and experience

  • GCSE Maths and English or NVQ3 in business administration (or equivalent) or the ability to demonstrate experience enabling you to carry out the full range of duties
  • Experience of working in a customer-focused office environment
  • The ability to communicate clearly and confidently with people at all levels
  • Experience supporting and minuting complex meetings
  • Experience of prioritising work to meet multiple deadlines

Working pattern

This is predominantly an office-based role based on the needs of the services we support, with the possibility of working at home at least two days, once the working pattern has been agreed. This role is based at Solihull Council House.
