St Modwen's Catholic Primary School, 25 Hours, Term-time only Learning Mentor/Pastoral Support Officer (Grade 5) required for immediate start, fixed-term contract from as soon as possible until initially 31.03.2027. We are looking for a dedicated and organised Learning Mentor/Pastoral Support Officer. As a Learning Mentor/Pastoral Support Officer, you will support pupils across the school to overcome barriers to learning and thrive academically and personally. You will build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a positive role model while providing one-to-one and small group support. Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, wider school staff team and external partner service providers, you will help to create and deliver strategies to improve outcomes for children and families in school. This is initially a fixed-term position until 31.03.2027.
Responsibilities
- Pastoral and behavioural support in class and on a one-to-one basis
- Be a member of the safeguarding team
- Provide nurture groups
- Work in collaboration with parents and local service providers to engage/signpost to Early Help services
Required attributes and qualifications
- Experience of mentoring, supporting and counselling children/families
- High expectations of all children
- Proven experience in identifying barriers to learning and planning effective strategies to manage them
- The ability to enthuse and inspire children
- Proven experience of working with families to engage/liaise a range of Early Help services to improve family outcomes
- An absolute passion for education, health and children’s mental health and well-being
- Excellent skills and reflective practice
- A passion and commitment to improving outcomes for all children and willingness to go the extra mile for our children and families
