Family Practitioner

We are looking for a Family Practitioner to support children and families, working collaboratively with social workers to promote child safety, wellbeing and family unity.
Core hours are 37 hours each week Monday – Friday, travelling around Burton and Uttoxeter in East Staffordshire. Availability outside of traditional working patterns, including evenings and weekends, may be required.
Responsibilities
- Lead early help assessments and plans, completing home and school visits.
- Collaborate with social workers to support children in need, those on child protection plans and children in care.
- Support children and families through parenting assessments, mediation, crisis prevention, conflict resolution and Life Story work.
- Deliver interventions on specific topics such as staying safe, loss and grief, behaviour management, parenting support, attachment and exploitation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Direct experience working with children and families, including home visiting.
- Minimum standard of NVQ3 in working with children and their families, or equivalent, plus knowledge of child development and issues such as mental health, substance misuse, domestic abuse, poverty and other vulnerabilities.
- Effective communication skills with children, families and carers.
- Ability to build relationships and deliver interventions, and to manage conflict situations.
- IT proficiency and the ability to keep effective written records to a good standard.
- Commitment to restorative approaches when working with children and families.
