Solihull Council is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Administration Officer to join our Planning, Design & Engagement Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of the Building Safety Levy, a new high‑profile national initiative that helps ensure the safety of our built environment. In addition, you will contribute to vital services including Planning, Building Control and Land Charges.

Working within a busy and supportive administration team, you’ll provide essential systems, data and customer support, ensuring services run smoothly and deliver high‑quality outcomes for residents, businesses and partners.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing frontline advice and support to customers, businesses and stakeholders.
  • Maintaining and updating Building Safety Levy records, databases and statutory registers accurately.
  • Ensuring national deadlines are met and processes followed with regards receipting and invoicing payments for the Building Safety Levy.
  • Supporting Planning and Building Control teams, including interpreting construction drawings and calculating the levy.
  • Managing and inputting data into specialist systems such as GIS mapping and web applications.
  • Processing financial transactions, fees and payments in line with regulations.
  • Supporting the delivery of events, meetings and service activities.
  • Ensuring compliance with GDPR, legislation and council policies.

About You

  • Previous experience in an administration or office‑based role.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database systems.
  • Experience working in a customer‑focused environment.
  • Ability to manage data accurately and maintain records.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
