Bromsgrove and Redditch Councils are located in North Worcestershire. These councils share services and are committed to being a customer‑driven organisation, with our customers at the heart of everything we do. This is a new post to lead the Temporary Accommodation Team that is responsible for providing temporary accommodation for people who are homeless. Working closely with the Homeless Team to support those living in temporary accommodation and ensuring their temporary homes are safe and suitable. It will be a busy role in a fast‑paced environment so the successful candidate will also need to be able to meet deadlines, prioritise their workload and work as part of a high performing team.
The Role
- Deliver the Councils temporary accommodation homelessness service compliantly and with a high degree of efficiency.
- Provide direct line management and leadership to the Temporary Accommodation Team.
- Provide outstanding customer services to all customers, colleagues, partners and elected Members by building trust, taking responsibility and assuming ownership of issues, actively listening, communicating with empathy and being flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of others.
Key Requirements
- Sound technical knowledge and experience of providing homelessness temporary accommodation under legislative and regulatory frameworks.
- Lead on key decisions on making in‑license breaches and attending evictions.
- Support the team to maximise income collection with an effective arrears recovery process.
- Support the team in their continued professional development.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum Level 3 qualification related to housing management and social housing practice.
- At least 3 years demonstrable experience specific to the role, or demonstrable experience with transferable skills within the housing sector.
- At least 2 years relevant and recent experience in a senior or managerial role.
