Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic Lawyer to join our team and provide legal advice, assistance and representation to client departments and partner organisations in relation to litigation matters. You will represent the Council or partner organisations in civil proceedings in the County Court, Magistrates Court or Tribunal, on behalf of or against the Council or partner organisations.
Key Requirements
The role requires advice and assistance in contentious legal matters across the Councils, including general civil litigation, property litigation, enforcement powers and responsibilities under the Anti‑Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 and the Renters Rights Act 2025. You will also support and advise on Licensing matters and act as a legal advisor to the Licensing Committee when required.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives. Civil litigation experience is essential. Excellent communication skills are required to establish and maintain good working relationships with client officers, staff and elected members of Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council.
This is a full‑time position; part‑time alternatives may be considered for the right candidate. We will consider candidates who do not meet all the requirements if they can demonstrate value to the role.
