Bromsgrove and Redditch Councils, Environmental Services Commercial Waste ESO4 Grade 6 SCP £32,061 – £35,412 37hrs a week (any 4-5-day working patterns apply from any 7 days.) The role
The daily role will be to support the operational delivery of the service, supporting colleagues to deliver their role, provide site assessments on new customers, and support the management team keeping the service working effectively and efficiently. The role will at times also require you to cover for other operational staff either driving or loading to deliver Commercial Waste Collections, and meeting with customers to address operational issues or opportunities as part of the wider growth of the service.
The applicant will be able to demonstrate the correct attitudes, behaviours, and personal attributes to provide a quality, customer focused service to businesses in Bromsgrove, Redditch and across the West Midlands. They must also be able to work flexibly and work alongside the wider commercial waste team with community and sponsored events, which will involve working some evenings and weekends.
You will be expected to manage annual leave, sickness and where appropriate you will need to provide detailed accounts for instances of accidents, disciplinary and any other scenarios where a good, detailed record is required. A crucial skill will be the ability to lead by example, and this will be essential to developing a strong and reliable team.
Key Requirements
- The successful applicant will ideally have experience of working within a Commercial Waste Service and hold a HGV Class 2 driving license, with a valid up to date CPC.
- They will also be expected to show they can make a positive and meaningful contribution to the development and on-going improvement of the service.
- Will ensure all of our customers receive an excellent service that aims to meet their needs.

- Are self-motivated, enthusiastic and demonstrate initiative.

As part of the structure, you will be working alongside The Executive Manager and a designated Sales and will be expected to support each other and work in a cohesive and organized way to help planning for service demands across the year.
Skills & Experience
Candidate ideally would have a minimum of three years' experience within the Commercial Waste industry, or a minimum of two years' experience in managing and/or supervising staff, good IT knowledge, experience of budget management and excellent communication skills together with a thorough and detailed understanding of daily people management & protocols. Must also hold a full UK driving license.
The post will be under a standard 6-month probation period and assessments will be done during that period to ensure the individual is meeting the responsibilities outlined.
