Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council are jointly seeking an Environmental Services Operative – Level 1 to work as part of the Place Team in Bromsgrove. The role involves cleansing the Bromsgrove district area, ensuring public bins are emptied and carrying out a range of public high-street cleaning duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Litter picking, graffiti removal, fly tip removal and removal of dead animals
  • Pedestrian mowing, blowing, trimming and hedge cutting
  • Undertaking Level 1 playground inspections
  • Performing basic maintenance of equipment and plant
  • Carrying out vehicle, plant and equipment checks
  • Using mobile devices to record and manage tasks

Qualifications & Experience

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work in all weathers.
  • Team player who can also work independently.
  • Strong customer-service skills; representative of the council in public environments.
  • Willingness to undertake training.

Working Hours & Pattern

37 hours per week. The role follows a Thursday-to-Monday pattern with arrangements for bank holidays and Christmas working. Any 4- or 5-day working patterns applied from any 7 days are possible.

Remuneration

Salary Scale: Grade 3 (£25,583 – £27,254 per annum). (Spinal Column points 5 to 9).
