Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council’s Dudley Virtual School is committed to improving the educational outcomes of children looked after, previously looked after, children in kinship care, and children with a social worker. We are seeking an energetic, motivated and passionate individual to support these children and young people, ensuring they achieve their best educational progress possible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with schools, social care, carers and multi‑agency partners.
  • Hold a caseload and provide direct support, advice and challenge.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic priorities and projects across the service.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience working with vulnerable children and young people and understanding of the complex issues facing children in care and care leavers, and how these experiences impact learning, engagement and academic achievement.
  • Considerable knowledge of teaching and learning, including a strong understanding of children with special educational needs and strategies that promote inclusion and progress.
  • Knowledge of supporting children and young people from Nursery through to Post‑16, recognising developmental stages, curriculum expectations and support needs across age ranges.
  • A clear understanding of delivering excellent service for children in care and providing robust, strategic advice and guidance for previously looked after children, children in kinship care, and children with a social worker.
  • A commitment to championing educational rights and achievements of our cohort, and working collaboratively to secure the best possible outcomes.

Workplace Attendance

Working in the office 3+ days a week (pro-rata) or onsite full time.
