Kinship Assessment Team Manager
Location and Working Arrangements: Hybrid role based in Birmingham, UK. Right-to-work in the UK is required; sponsorship or visa support is not available.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a child-centred service that complies with all relevant legal, regulatory and statutory requirements, delivering high-quality assessments and support to foster carers.
- Provide leadership and oversight to social workers and senior practitioners, ensuring high-quality practice and fostering continuous professional development.
- Effectively manage allocated resources to achieve the aims and objectives of Birmingham Children’s Trust, while contributing to innovative approaches to fostering services.
- Play an active role in the further development of the service, leading on key areas such as the continued development of the kinship local offer and initiatives to strengthen recruitment, support and retention of foster carers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Ability to lead and develop social work practice at an operational level through effective performance management.
- Good understanding of the family courts, fostering and SGO regulations, enabling effective analysis and intervention.
- Up-to-date knowledge of national policy, strategy and developments regarding kinship care to promote continuous learning.
- Commitment to achieving positive outcomes for children and young people, and ability to provide effective leadership and professional challenge to the team.
- Experience working within a safeguarding environment is desirable.
- Ability to quality-assure practice, ensure compliance with fostering regulations, statutory guidance and quality standards.
- Appropriate level of Disclosure and Barring Service check required; commitment to safeguarding principles.
