Stirchley Primary School is looking to appoint a suitably qualified, hardworking, enthusiastic teaching assistant to work in our friendly and welcoming school. The position requires supporting our breakfast club in the morning starting at 7:30 AM, also covering lunchtime duties and classroom cover until 2:30 PM. The successful candidate may be required to work across all three Key Stages – Foundation, KS1 and KS2 – if necessary.
Responsibilities
- Provide support in the breakfast club and throughout the school day, including lunchtime duties and classroom cover.
- Work across Foundation, KS1 and KS2 as required.
- Communicate effectively with children, staff, and parents, both verbally and in writing.
- Attend INSET days and observe the school’s safeguarding and welfare provisions.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (or a good standard of education).
- Willingness to undertake first aid and safeguarding training.
- Successful DBS check and safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS and Children’s Barring List check.
- Fluent spoken and written English – essential for the role.
- Disability confidence: applicants who wish to be considered under the scheme must disclose this and meet essential criteria.
- Efficient handling of safeguarding responsibilities, with knowledge of statutory duties.
Salary and Hours
- Hours: 32.5 hours per week, term time only.
- Grade: Grade B, SCP 12 (£28,598 p.a.). Actual salary £22,363 per annum.
- Location: Stirchley Primary School, Pershore Road, Stirchley, Birmingham, B30 2JL.
