Hawthorn Primary School is a welcoming and inclusive primary school seeking to appoint a Level 3 Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) from September 2026. This is a 12 month fixed term contract that could lead to a permanent position. Start date: September 2026. Salary: £28,598 - £34,434 pro rata. Actual = £22,362 - £27,549 pa Term time only.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with a range of special educational needs, including EHCP identified needs
- Work with individuals and small groups to deliver targeted learning and intervention programmes
- Assist the class teacher in planning, preparing and adapting learning activities
- Promote inclusion and positive behaviour, supporting pupils’ social and emotional development
- Support personal care where required, in line with school policies
- Observe, record and report on pupils’ progress
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCo, parents and external professionals
- Ensure safeguarding and health & safety procedures are followed at all times
The Successful Candidate Will Have
- A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
- Proven experience working with pupils with SEN in a primary school setting
- Knowledge of a range of SEN (e.g. ASC, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH)
- A patient, caring and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupils’ wellbeing
