Overview
We currently have the opportunity for a Senior Occupational Therapist on a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave until December 2026 within Birmingham City Council Adult Social Care.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate comprehensive Specialist Occupational Therapy assessments for citizens with complex physical, mental health and learning disability needs.
- Review packages of care to ensure the least restrictive approach is implemented.
- Lead the development of effective multi-disciplinary relationships and the delivery of continued healthcare.
- Drive quality, efficiency and adherence to legislation in occupational therapy practice across Adult Social Care.
- Lead projects, support the wider team and contribute to the development of the OT service.
Qualifications
- HCPC Occupational Therapist registration.
- Minimum 2 + years qualified experience in Occupational Therapy, preferably in a complex need setting.
- Understanding of equal opportunity and diversity issues.
- Experience working with citizens with complex needs.
- Excellent report writing, assessment and communication skills with varied stakeholders.
- Commitment to continuing professional development and to the OT service.
- Readiness to work flexibly across different projects across the city.
- Strong work ethic, working continually at a fast pace.
- Skilled in engaging in difficult and sensitive conversations with citizens and their representatives.
- Team worker with initiative and autonomy.
