About The Role

As a Senior Inspection and Enforcement Officer, you will play a key role in monitoring, auditing and verifying the performance of service providers responsible for delivering highway maintenance and related services. Reporting to the Principal Performance Officer, you will deliver a programme of planned and ad‑hoc inspections, ensuring that contractual obligations are met and that all work complies with required standards, legislation and council policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections and audits to assess service provider performance against contractual, technical and legal requirements.
  • Deliver both scheduled and ad‑hoc inspections, providing clear, balanced and evidence‑based performance assessments.
  • Record all findings accurately using approved systems and equipment, ensuring full auditability.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of highway standards, legislation and relevant Council policies.
  • Work collaboratively across internal teams and with external service providers.
  • Uphold the Council’s Equal Opportunities policies in all aspects of your work.

About You

  • Relevant qualification and significant experience in auditing or verifying service delivery (highways experience preferred).
  • Understanding of statutory highway obligations and PFI contract principles.
  • LANTRA trained.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to analyse technical and performance data.
  • Confident IT user.
  • Commitment to excellent customer care and equality in service delivery.
