Woodcock Hill Primary School is looking for a designated safeguarding lead to manage all aspects of pupil attendance, punctuality, and well-being. The successful candidate will fully understand and keep updated with Government guidance and legislation in respect of attendance and children’s well-being.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing effective communication with all staff, children, and families regarding identified pupils.
- Being familiar with and applying Birmingham’s Support First Attendance Framework.
- Managing the school’s ‘Early Help’ intervention programme in regards to attendance and pupil well-being, including writing to and meeting with parents when there are areas of concern.
- Being the focal point of contact between various agencies where a multiple agency approach is required.
- Holding daily drop-in sessions for pupils, offering and providing support and/or counselling to individual children and groups of children as and when the need arises.
The successful candidate will have experience of working with families and external agencies to support young people and developing relevant interventions. Considerable skills in liaising sensitively with parents/carers, pupils, teachers, and other external agencies are essential, with the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships being key to the success of the role.
