Waverley School – Primary Waverley Education Foundation, part of the Waverley Education Foundation Trust, operates Waverley School and Waverley Studio College. The school is an all-through school for pupils aged 4–19, with Primary and Secondary resources for pupils with cognition and learning difficulties. The new nursery, with 42 places for 2–4‑year‑olds, will launch in September 2026.

Location: Yardley Green Road, Bordesley Green, Birmingham, B9 5QA.

Salary: £24,796–£26,824 full‑time, TTO pro‑rata. Start date: September 2026.

The Role

You will work within our nursery provision, supporting the nursery teacher and working closely with our Senior Leader for EYFS and the wider early‑years team. You will play a key role in delivering a high‑quality, play‑based EYFS curriculum across all seven learning areas, with a strong emphasis on Communication & Language and Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED). High‑quality, free‑flow outdoor learning is a core part of our practice and is non‑negotiable. You will help create a safe, stimulating and enabling environment where children feel secure, confident and motivated to learn through purposeful play.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Holds a full and relevant Early Years qualification at the appropriate level and has experience working within the EYFS, ideally in a nursery.
  • Secure understanding of child development and what high‑quality early years practice looks like in action.
  • Passion for play‑based learning, outdoor provision, and high‑quality adult‑child interactions.
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with children, families and colleagues, recognising that many families speak English as an additional language.
  • Able to contribute to observations, assessment and identifying next steps to support children’s progress from their starting points.
  • Supports children’s language development, emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour in line with EYFS expectations.
  • Willingness to work as part of a collaborative EYFS team and contribute positively to the wider life of the school.
