Education Impact Academy Trust is a thriving Multi Academy Trust in North Birmingham, incorporating Wilson Stuart School, Mayfield School, Queensbury School, The Hive College, Lime Tree Nursery and Blue Sky Nursery. Our ethos is 'Better Never Ends'. Wilson Stuart School is an Ofsted-designated outstanding all-age special school (2–25 years) serving pupils with physical disabilities and/or complex medical conditions. The Trust values professional development, challenge and support for staff and emphasises collaborative, high-quality teaching.

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will support the educational and personal development of pupils with severe learning difficulties and complex medical needs. You will plan, deliver, and assess learning activities for individuals and groups, following an agreed timetable for part of the week. You will also provide leadership and guidance to other teaching assistants, working closely with teachers and other professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Planning, delivering, and assessing lessons for pupils according to an agreed timetable.
  • Providing classroom support to enhance learning and promote independence.
  • Leading intervention sessions and supporting personalised learning plans.
  • Offering mentoring and pastoral care to pupils.
  • Assisting with the physical care of pupils, including moving and handling.
  • Supporting pupils with personal care needs when required.
  • Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and medical staff to meet pupils’ needs.

Experience or willingness to assist with moving, handling, and personal care is essential.

Candidate Requirements:
  • Hold a relevant Level 3 qualification and be working towards or hold HLTA status.
  • Experience supporting pupils with special educational needs and complex medical needs.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrate high expectations for learning and behaviour.
  • Commitment to making a positive difference every day.
