What You’ll Do
- Provide strategic leadership for the Fleet & Transport Department.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fleet strategy covering capital acquisition, asset management and maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with traffic regulations and maintain the Council’s operator’s licence.
- Lead strategic procurement of fleet assets aligned with long‑term sustainability goals.
- Manage capital budgets for fleet replacement and explore carbon reduction and sustainable fuel solutions.
- Establish performance metrics to evaluate procurement effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
- Oversee fleet maintenance schedules and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and suppliers.
- Monitor and manage fleet‑related budgets, ensuring cost‑effective and efficient operations.
- Act as Budget Holder for the fleet department.
- Work closely with wider BCC fleet teams.
What You’ll Need
- Exceptional communication skills at all organisational levels.
- Experience working in dynamic organisations.
- Degree or professional certification in fleet management, logistics or a related field.
- Extensive experience in fleet and asset operations, including procurement and compliance.
- Proven track record in budget management and strategic planning.
- Strong commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage complex projects and navigate regulatory frameworks.
- Commitment to sustainability and innovation in fleet management.
