Salary Range: £23,542 – £28,106, including SEN allowance £1,507 FTE.

Location: Cherry Oak School, 60 Frederick Road, B29 6PB.

Position: Level 3 Teaching Assistant, 32.5 Hours per week – Term Time Only – Permanent (Monday‑Friday). Other working patterns may be considered.

Start date: 1st September 2026.

We are looking for promoters of confidence, champions of communication and specialists in the art of the possible.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate the unspoken using a sensory and trauma‑informed approach, personalised communication strategies and creative tech to give every child a voice.
  • Celebrate firsts – support children in making eye contact, sharing resources, mastering new skills.
  • Work alongside a supportive team of experts, sharing laughs and celebrating every victory.
  • Support pupils on the autistic spectrum and with other diagnosed special educational needs.
  • Follow and implement key information such as Relational Support Plans, Sensory Differences Profiles, Individual Pupil Risk Assessments and Pupil Passports.
  • Support pupils with a trauma‑informed approach.
  • Be flexible to meet school needs.
  • Use own initiative and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with pupils and colleagues.
  • Take ownership of tasks.
  • Support learning of small groups of students.
  • With training, deliver Read, Write, Inc. phonics and writing to a small group.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Desire to work with pupils on the autistic spectrum.
  • Willingness to learn more about Autism and other diagnosed SEN.
  • Recognised Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification and GCSE Maths and English at Level 4 or above (or equivalent).
  • Commitment to supporting children and young people with special needs.
  • Commitment to safeguarding pupils (subject to DBS and other checks).
  • Fluent English.
