Birmingham City Council is looking for a bold and ambitious Evidence and Analysis Lead in the Children and Families Directorate. We’re embarking on a one‑of‑a‑kind improvement journey that will affect families across Birmingham, putting evidence and a data‑driven approach at the heart of our work to ensure we understand our citizens’ backgrounds, needs and views.

In this role, you will provide strategic leadership, vision and direction to the area of partnerships and performance, ensuring the service achieves its goals. You will work alongside a wide range of senior stakeholders to embed a culture of transformation, empower and develop your team to drive performance and improve standards. You will establish partnerships to identify interdependencies and produce a range of trusted and timely analysis products for operational, corporate, statutory and public users.

This role fundamentally supports the improvement of outcomes for children across Birmingham. The data, intelligence and information your team collects and analyses will underpin education strategies and innovation programmes, benefiting young people and their communities. All work will be evidence‑based, geared towards continuous improvement and compliant with data protection legislation.

About You

As an established professional with a degree level qualification in a relevant subject, you will have substantial project management experience and an excellent knowledge of qualitative and quantitative social research methods. You will have proven team leadership and management experience in designing, developing, and implementing information and data management systems, including data collection, collation, analysis and reporting.

As a leader, you will be experienced, driven, creative and a passionate advocate for children and young people. You will have experience building and maintaining effective working relationships with a wide range of colleagues, stakeholders and external organisations. You will set clear direction and objectives for your team, using your influencing skills to inspire, empower and motivate staff. You will foster a culture that values compassion, high‑performance and inclusivity, shaping and developing the skills of your team so that every person can get the most from their role.
